You won't gain any speed moving to SQL Server. You will gain:

- security
- better WAN capabilities
- decreased network traffic
>Dear All,

>I have a general question:
>We are looking now on having our FoxPro database changed to SQL Server as a back database with the VFP forms and interface as a front interface.
>What I am curious to know is how fast could SQL be in comparison to VFP.
>Our main transactions table is about 1 million records long with 25 fileds.
>Is it worth upsizing at all? and if yes, will the data be much faster processed?
>Is it worthwhile buying SQL 2000 or SQL 7 can be sufficient?
>
>In the past I was told that my data must be very big in order to really have any profit from SQL, as for small database it is better and faster to process data in VFP. Is it correct? and if so to what data size and extend?

>I do appreciate your help.

>Thanks
