You can establish connections between computers over TCP or UDP with the winsock ocx. So if you receive/send data over these protocols instead of reading/writing an HL7 testfile, the ocx should be ok. I don't have any personal experience with it, but I've seen a presentation at one of our user group meetings, where the ocx was used for this kind of thing.
