As a long time end-user of ACCPAC (SBT) products I can attest to their validity.....SBT started it. ACCPAC has made, what I think are significant improvements, although there is still a way to go. You get all source code. If you can figure it out....good luck....lots of global variables and obscure references, but I like it anyway. Have made significant $ over the years doing modifications. Once you figure out where they are going it's easy. You'll get people here who hate it....I'm not one of those. For medium to fairly large size busineses it's the most modifiable source out there. It gives people accurate answers and if you need too make modifications, all the code is there. Version 7.0 is on the way which promises SQL support as well as other enhancements. I have 22 clients who appear happy and content. I could lose them tommorrow to another package with a stronger sales pitch, but I hope we've built a better relatiosnship than that. Cost for is fairly high until you consider what it does....If you want to know more, please telephone me...I can give you the good and the bad of dealing with the source provider as well as client expectations and results.

As far as them discontinuing the product in Foxpro.....it's sort of the same for Foxpro itself....You get differnet stories depending on who you talk to. For me as long as any version of Foxpro is around, whether Microsoft is making another version or not, ACCPAC Foxpro version will be around. You'd be surprised at how many are using it and have no idea its running on Foxpro databases and tables....THEY DON'T CARE AS LONG AS IT WORKS........

>(1) What is the market now for accounting software? There was a time when SBT FoxPro developers made quite a premium in contract wages; I believe that day is gone.
>
>(2) Do either of these vendors sell their internal Visual and Non-Visual Class libraries, or do they only give an application class layer?
>
>(3) How are these companies doing financially? What is their market share? With even large companies going belly up, we can't be too careful these days.
