David,

The Invalid Seek Offset error is not directly related to VFP indexes (although a bad inderx can cause this error). This error is referring to memory seeking and is usually caused by errant behaving drivers. The dirvers can be video, sound, printer, or tohers. The problem is usually caused when a drive does not follow the windows standards for memory amangement. VFP, as do many database applications, stresses memory usage. If there is any software that is not respecting the memory boundaries then VFP is very likely to expose the problem while other types of applications may not expose it.

I would suggest trying to use an different HP printer driver. HP is infamous for having problematic printer drivers. HP usually gets the driver right eventually, but the early versions of their drivers are often the culprit in this type of error. Try using a driver for an older HP printer of the same family or search for any newer versions of the driver you are currently using.
