Wd have developed a signature scanning application and only want them to save the image as a TIF. This is because of the requirements of the XEROX printers we have. What I was doing was converting the TIF to a BMP with the Pixel Translation software we use. Then I wanted them to use Paint to remove any speckling, unwanted lines, etc. After they closed paint, I want to convert the image back to a TIF image and save that image in the memo field (filttostr()) of the table. With the updates to Paint in W2K/XP, (can save in JPEG, TIF, BMP, ETC), I didn't want to give the users that ability. Also, given them native control, they could save the image as a different file name them I am expecting in the software. I know, empower the user.... As a developer, you know how users can be, so, we try to eliminate the posibilites of the user doing something like that unexpected.
But, it looks like I am going to use the SHELL option that you showed me. If they decide to save the image as a different name, etc, then they will have to live with the outcome. I guess there is going to be a learning curve for them on this one.
Thanks for you help.
