Jamie;

I am glad the VFP market in your area is doing well. Does the bank you mention use VFP? I have relatives and friends who work at Bank of America, etc. and they will not use a windows product including SQL Server.

Just speculation but it seems that the corporate world in Australia uses VFP? Here is my experience in the corporate world in Silicon Valley. Microsoft never promoted VFP and has a great deal of influence over the corporate world. Access and Visual Basic with SQL server have been pushed for many years. Those corporations that did use FoxPro quit doing so some time ago. There may be a few exceptions but I know of none. The State of California had 25 VFP programmers at one time in one department (Water Department) – I think it is now zero.

I have been to many Microsoft training sessions and Kick Offs. VFP has never been mentioned and talking to Microsoft staff about this results in nothing. Trying to promote VFP in my area is a lost cause.

>>To stand by and accept the current situation regarding VFP marketing is an option all right, but it does portend a very limited future for VFP. The platitudes are heart-warming, but they don't really add to the widespread exposure of VFP.

>I think that I must live on a different planet to the rest of the VFP development world. I just came from a VFP contract at Australias largest bank where the VFP development is GROWING and taking away work from the VB / Oracle development teams. IT management continually see better apps delivered on time there.

>Surely if this can happen at such a large organisation then product awareness (at least in Australia) will grow.

>Ps. I finished the contract and chose to move on to another more lucrative VFP position - the bank didn't decide to shrink VFP developer numers.
