I ran GETDIR() from the VFP 6 command window. I also checked it on an 'installed' VFP application that uses GETDIR() to allow the user to point to drive mapped files and folders used by the application. It looked the same both ways.

So - I tried it with VFP 5 command window, and got a different dialog. So it seems that VFP 5 and VFP 6 offer different GETDIR() dialogs.

Both VFP 5 and VFP 6 reside on an XP box.

It seems that it may be a VFP runtime version issue.

>No, in fact I can access the drive in another part of the program. I am further mystified by the following: I run XP(home) on my development machine. When I issue getdir() on this machine I get one style of dialog box. When I install my app (.exe) to a different machine also running XP(home) getdir() displays a different (older?) style of dialog. This behavior is very curious! Could it in any way have something to do with the .dll files that I install (with InstallShield Express 3.53)? I thought maybe I could solve the whole mess just by using the common dialog if I just knew how. TIA.
