>Why did you consider learning other langues a very high investment? Is it that VFP can do everhtying? VFP will still be around and supported? Or simply that you were only familiar with VFP?
It is a high investment, simply because it takes a long time to learn a language. The cost/benefit consideration is something completely different. IOW, you invest a lot (mainly time), but it may very well be worth in the long run.
>As a developer, would'nt you be ther person recommending the language that a company should consider? given this, why would you even consider what the "Company" - (who may not have enough information on IT) has to say or suggest?
The situation may vary, depending on who you work for. The situation may very often be as you say. OTOH, you may receive an offer to join a team where the languages are already decided upon.
I believe that VFP will be around, and supported, for several years more, so there is really no urgency in learning another programming language. But it may be worth considering in the long run.
