>My understanding is that commercial television will not air any commercials on September 11 and will instead spend the day showing us what happened one-year ago on that date in New York City. I for one will not watch television on that day, as I know what happened and saw more than I care to remember.

>Making a spectacle of this event is something I do not enjoy the thought of. This will be cult worship which some will enjoy. It is a way for President Bush to get things he wants by making reference to the event. Commercial television networks and stations will be thought of as super patriotic by some and peddlers of sick morbid horror by others.

I can understand your feelings - but I am not quite sure what to think about the "scheduled entertainment". On the one hand, I am sure that patriotic sentiment ain't the only driving force behind the TV programming you mentioned. But the question remains: "Should such a thing be shown?" I think it is good for people to remember this date - and hope the program doesn't become too morbid.

Also, I am a little worried that the events of Sep. 11 might become over-emphasized. Not that the events aren't bad - I mean, over-emphasized at the expense of other terrorist attacks - or world problems in general (AIDS, poverty, ecology, etc.).

Hilmar.
