That's when you do what I did - wire the house, or at least a portion of it. I use my wireless for my laptop so I can sit anywhere I feel like it and work, but my primary desktop machine is hard wired (well, I have plugs and patch cables..) with a 100mb switch.
Keep in mind that even with a decent DSL speed, the 11mb of 80211.b is STILL much faster, so unless you are running 5+ computers wirelessly all downloading, the limit on bandwidth is the WAN connection, not the LAN side. I get people wondering why a T1 or ISDN router doesn't have a 100mb ethernet port - for the very simple reason that 10mb ethernet is STILL much faster than T1 speed, and REALLY a lot faster than 128kbps ISDN, and thus doesn't limit anything.
