Follow this link http://www.hallogram.com/commtool/ and you'll get information on a library called COMMTOOLS. It's got lots of goodies and support several communications devices.

Basically, this tool provides several functions that take control of communication devices such as Communication Chips, Modems, Modem Sharing Systems, Fax Boards, Multi-Port Boards, and Serial Equipment and you can create your own interface for it.
