>Come on, we regularly hear bitterness that somebody lost a deal or had a "hard sell" because customers heard the word "foxpro" and did not judge on merit. I had that happen to me for the first few years when I starting the business and boy, did it hurt- propelled me from FP into Java FWIW. In Java I found wide acceptance from customers although the few products we delivered weren't a patch on the FP versions, but that's a different story.

I agree that it has been tough to see VFP fall from corporate grace, but is that all Microsoft's fault? Remember when our direct competitors were dBASE and Clipper? What happened to them? I haven't really kept up, but didn't Borland buy dBASE, then dump it?

I wonder where FoxPro would be if Microsoft hadn't bought it. I seriously doubt we would be better off today. And while I wish VFP were king of the hill, MS is making the transition to .NET and SQL Server easier for us. I wonder what kind of transition the dBASE and Clipper guys went through.
