Wierd - what kind of laptop? Sounds like maybe there wasn't a chipset driver for it included in XP. My Compaq worked fine even back at 64MB, although in no way could I start SQL Server on it at that time. Upgrading to 320MB has made it quite speedy, well, as speedy as a P2-366 can be. I can't complain too loudly as it's provided for me, I didn't have to buy it, although with some people quitting and new people being hired, I think i got cheated since a couple of people who don't go near programming have now have slightly newer systems with 1024x768 screens while I am stuck at 800x600 which just doesn't cut it in VFP. It would have been nice to take my wireless connection outside on a nice spring day but the hassles of programming on a small screen didn't make up for the nice weather. It's really bad compared to my desktop machine with a 19" monitor that I run at 1280x1024.

>I bought a laptop with 128 memory. Ran fine with Win2k. Then I installed Xp - it ran like treacle so I increased the memory to 256. Ok so then it ran fine. I got bored with Xp and reinstalled Win2k - it ran like lightning.
