Sorry I cannot give you a good answer to any of these questions.
I am afraid that you met a problem related to PDF printer driver. I believe that if you go to any Russian Internet site and try to print document from the screen, you will receive ???? instead of characters.
Maybe as a temporary solution you could use picture format instead of pdf?
