The first step for my particular solution involved changing the fonts for all the forms, reports, etc. from the standard Arial to Arial Unicode. The Unicode font is quite large in size and very comprehensize. It contains just about every character imaginable for all the major languages of the world. By using it, my application can display characters native to Japanese (or any other major language if required in the future).
