I don't know whether these comments will help or not - I know your problem.

The small end of the spectrum whether access or excel is usually because IT don't really want to get involved - thats kids stuff.

The large end SQL is fine but I have seen instances where it is used in small companies to run apps that are grindingly slow. In one of my installations all machines had to be upgraded to 256mb.

Where VFP has a niche in my view is in its ability to produce powerful apps very quickly. I have on one occasion failed to sell VFP to an electricity company in the UK, but sold them on the VFP to be used as a quick development tool to demonstrate how the app would finally look to the user, and then found that management liked the look of this 'intermediate app' and told IT to take it on board.

The management of this company wanted solutions and my development time was aboout one tenth of IT
