>Tom,

>I lived in Long Beach and Canoga Park to be exact. I had relatives in Lakewood, Huntington Beach, Thousand Oaks and currently somewhere in Orange County (Anaheim?). Some relatives moved out to Lancaster and others out to Moreno Valley. Long commute from Lancaster to LA. Not my idea of fun!

>Teams? More than one? Haven't a clue. I know the names of some of the current minor league cities and teams.
>
>OK. I will take a guess...
>AAA Los Angeles Smog
>AAA Los Angeles Traffic
>AAA Los Angeles Riot
>
>Just kidding. I don't really know.
>
>I had to miss a ballgame at Chavez Ravine (Dodger Stadium = current name) in 1965 due to a riot closed the freeway. I forgot which freeway. I think more than one freeway was closed. Ever been to a ballgame at the LA Coliseum? Saw couple games at the Coliseum before Dodger Stadium was built. My brother lives in Vegas and he just got back from there. He took in an Angel game, a Dodger game and a Padres game all in one trip.
>
>Back to the trivia question. I could cheat and look it up in my Baseball Bible, but I am not a cheater. I just hope the Dodgers make the play-offs and I am glad there was no strike.
>
>Orel Hershiser (1988) and Sandy Koufax (1963) are my heroes. GO DODGERS, BEAT SNAKES and GIANTS!
>
>So what's the answer to the trivia question so I don't have to look it up? Very curious...

Steve;

There were two teams (AAA) in Los Angeles until "the Dodgers came to town". They were the Los Angeles Angels and the Hollywood Stars. San Diego had the Padres, San Francisco had the Seals, Oakland had the Oaks.

When the AAA folded in Los Angeles, etc. many of the players went to the major league. Over the years some famous players came from West Coast AAA like Joe Dimaggio to name just one.

I never saw a baseball game in the LA Coliseum, however I did see Pele (Cosmos) and George Best (Aztecs) play soccer on July 4, 1977. What a game and do I have some great pictures!

I think the riot you recalled was August 1965. Several freeways were closed.

Like my Grandfather said, "Bring back the Seals"! Who needs the Giants? Why New York of course! :)
