A couple of month ago I experienced something similar. There was a VFP6 SP3 application on the server, that was used daily by 5-10 users for about 8 years already (starting from FP DOS, and then converted to VFP6). The new user came and started work on the laptop PC having WIndows98. All necessary installations and set-ups were implemented as usual.

And I started getting unrecoverable corruption of one and the very same table very often in the morning. I monitored user activity, what keys were used, etc., but did not find anything suspicious. And it happened if and only if this particular user started work the very first in the morning. It looked like corruption occurred just on the 'use table' line. Sorry to tell you, but it all gone when they replaced the laptop with another and similar one.
