Hi Jim,

I don't know alot about India or Pakistan or Sri-Lanka (Ceylon) or Turkey but I do know that each has had a woman leader (Prime Ministers all, I believe) while the Christian U.S. has never even had a woman Vice President.

No hornets here. <s>

I think I am either not being clear enough or people just cannot get past their pre-conceived notions. let me state this one more time (I'm not upset, just trying very hard to make what I think is an important point) and try and make myself crystal clear.

Christianity does not, never has, and simply would NOT teach, condone, encourage, or in any other way support the mistreatment, abuse, belittling, suppressing, dehumanizing or any other form of mistreatment against women. Or men or any other group.

None whatsoever. Never. No way. Nada. <g>

Do people do these things in the name of Christianity Yes! They do! All the time.

They also do them in the name of Islam, Communism, and a whole host of other 'isms'.

And, candidly, they are just plain wrong.

However, I take great offense at those who illogically assert that because some call themselves Christians and behave this way that Christianity teaches these things. It does not!

Is it at all possible for me to be any plainer, clearer or direct? <bg>

It is intellectually lazy, if not dishonest to reason this way. They reason that if some Christians act a certain way that Christianity teaches that all Christians should act this way. I reject this non-logic.

I could as well say that because some women get drunk all women are drunks. Or that because some men in the US Senate are philanderers that all men in the US Senate are philanderers.

It is either lazy, dishonest or outright self-deception, driven by prejudice. Take your position. Defend it honestly.

Look.. What people don't do is look at how a place has been before and after Christianity has truly been influential in any given locale. And, by Christianity I do NOT mean religion.

I mean God's real love in and through the lives of individuals like youor me. Not some religious system that suppresses and chokes the very life out of people, naking them slaves to some few who decide what is 'right' or 'wrong'.
Best,

DD
