Soft locking works good for me. In this app, there's no reason to have the record physically locked. It's good enough to essentially mark it as being "checked out" by a person. I'm going to try the suggestion from another thread of putting the "checked out" records in another table, which eliminates the need for the extra TABLEUPDATE().
