Corrupting XP using the Wise VFP installation
We have been testing the installation of VFP 7.0 using Wise Installer. As part of the installation MSXML3R.DLL is written to the XP system directory. This Wise version of this file is 8.20.9370.0 and the XP version is 8.20.9307.1. The version 8.20.9307.1 is 10 bytes larger than the other file.
After the installation completes, XP shows the event viewer window that says that either the CD is not working or a system file has been corrupted. It prompts whether you want to fix the problem by putting in the XP CD. If you replace the file, the proper version is reinstalled.
Is anyone familar with this problem. Is the 10 byte difference due to MSFT signing the DLL?
