I (and I am sure that most responsable profesionals) agree with your point of view on software marketability, but when it comes to software project proposals , IT managers and GM's (unfortunately) have a different opinion.

I now of cases were some VERY prejudiced IT managers and Upper Managment exec's refuse even to see/consider proposals for software development project's were VFP is recomended even for part of the solution. No matter how much UML/Rational Rose has been applied to during the Systems Analysis/Design fases, How well UI are designed, If C/S is used with a great backend, Amount of tiers, Data Normalization, Well designed business objects, etc.

IMHO, marketability of apps is being affected by what decision makers perceive from development tool vendor's marketing efforts.
