Jim, thanks for your very informative reply !!

How do I modify the structure of Sql server Database ?(I saw some refernece to a product called Sql service Manager ..in Advisor). Do you know where I can get this or something similar to start setting up tables in SQL

At the moment, the economy here is a little sluggish compared to the BOOM times of the last few years, but hopefully this may only be temporary.

If I hear of anyone interested in training/consultancy I'll give them your name !!!

Regards,

Gerard

>Keep in mind that installing MSDE is like installing the VFP data engine and no VFP interactive development environment. That's impossible to do I know, but its the same idea. Say you only have the VFP data engine installed. How would you modify the structure of a table without a command window? Not possible.

You install the SQL Server Developer Edition (or the Standard Edition, or the Enterprise Edition). You ship MSDE to your clients with your app (.EXE) so your app can access the data. Uninstall MSDE from your machine.

>Yes you can, it's called a named instance. You can install SQL Server and it is named whatever your machine name is, say MyMachine for example. You can install another named instance of SQL Server, Bob, for example which would be MyMachine/Bob.
