Make sure NetBIOS is loaded as a network protocol (I don't have XP here so I can't walk you through it; this is from memory and from my Win2K machine). Basically, though, you go into the network setting, select the LAN icon that shows up and right click and select properties. Select TCP/IP, then properties. You might need to click on the advanced button. There is a WINS tab, you should see the NetBIOS setting at the bottom. If it is set to "Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server" you might need to switch it to "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP".
