Nancy:

I haven't read Nadia's reply yet but I wanted to report that I have found a solution.

First the real reason why I want to copy the files is because the computers for this particular group of customers are "locked down". i.e. the machines look for SETUP.EXE and put up a screen that says "You are not a Site Administrator so you can't do this". This in turn means we have to wait 3 weeks for a Site Administrator.

What I found is that if I Zip Up the files into a .exe and if I copy the .exe to the CD, I can simply copy the .exe from the CD onto the Customer's Local Drive and the files will unzip with all attributes clear.

So this is how I will do it from now on.

You might ask Why do the Computer Services Group have so much power that they can insert themselves this way? Well they do and none of the Managers have the courage to stand up to them and ask for Site Administrator privileges. One of the problems of working with a big organization.
