Hi - sometime ago I bought the book "Effective Tech for App Development with VFP" by Booth and Sawyer... I just got round to reading the chapter on n-tier development and am intrigued by it. In the past I have just opened the database and tables/views etc in the load of the form and set up the controlsource on the controls etc... Although using an extra tier is more involved, I could clearly see the benefits of it. I did wondered however, whether this approach would slow down data access?
For example, currently I have some forms that open ten or more tables, and the form takes a while to appear. Would the load take even longer if another tier was added?
Basically I am creating a test project to check all this out - any comments related to this type of development would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
