The answer is a definite maybe. It all depends on how you implement the middle tier. One idea that may speed things up is to not initially load any data in the form. This requires the user to query for the desired data and then only work with it.

>Hi - sometime ago I bought the book "Effective Tech for App Development with VFP" by Booth and Sawyer... I just got round to reading the chapter on n-tier development and am intrigued by it. In the past I have just opened the database and tables/views etc in the load of the form and set up the controlsource on the controls etc... Although using an extra tier is more involved, I could clearly see the benefits of it. I did wondered however, whether this approach would slow down data access?
>For example, currently I have some forms that open ten or more tables, and the form takes a while to appear. Would the load take even longer if another tier was added?
>Basically I am creating a test project to check all this out - any comments related to this type of development would be appreciated.
>Thanks in advance.
