Mike;

Interesting concept and I would like to consider this in more detail. How about one senator from each county from each state? Or the number will be county and population so larger counties like Los Angeles (my least favorite) would be better represented. The thing I hate about LA and its political weight is they get the majority of California tax money even thought the majority of tax revenue is collected from the Bay Area.

Yikes! I am suggesting tax base as a means of political weight! Not good at all! With California the fifth richest economy in the world guess who would have the greatest influence? Imagine if Simon were governor? Yes, there is a lot to be said for democracy. Too bad it has to be represented by humans. Forget computers running things – who programmed them?

Seems like we have to define different models with the pros and cons of each.

I would like to see television programs on what is being presented at each election. What are the issues and ramifications? The good, bad and real. What is real for one person is not the same for another. The various issues become more complex each year. Reading a little pamphlet about those for, against, and those who are against those who are for or against is stupid! In fact there is something about politics in general that is stupid.

Historically, civilization has decided we need leaders at the helm for our respective countries down to the local level. The failings of mankind are too apparent.

Jefferson is my favorite United States President. His thought that “the people have the right to overthrow the government if it no longer represents them”, is a concept that I do not take lightly!

Here is an interesting link about some of the writings of Jefferson:
