>>>Yes it is bull...., but it is also reality. You say the war can be stopped? Then make it happen.
>>
>>Thats the plan
>>
>>>Given the results of the elections and the administration's decision to view it as complete support for not only the Republican party but also the current administration's goals, I doubt any peace demonstration will change anything.
>>
>>I agree. Which was probably why Alex started this thread with the Title he chose.

>Right on. No matter what happens with the inspectors, and today's UN Council resolution, I expect war by next February.
>
>Is a war justified or justifiable? Not on the current evidence I've seen so far. But as Tracy pointed out we don't get to see the evidence.
>
>Why is Iraq more dangerous today than it was, say 5 years ago? Was Iraq responsible for 9/11 or in any way tied to Al-Qaeda? Not that I've seen reported and proven anywhere. Is this about oil? You bet!
>
>Dubya said there was an Axis of evil. And that either you are against terrorism or for it. No middle of the road here.
>
>Yet, there is not a peep against Iran or N.Korea, both in the list of nations that favor or help terrorism. Hell, North Korea publicly admitted that they have a nuclear weapons program a couple of weeks ago? Are we preparing for war against them? No. Hmmm... do they have oil? No.
>
>Saudi Arabia just said that we cannot use air bases in their country (even though we built them). Some friends.
>
>Ashcroft announced yesterday, in Niagara Falls, that citizens from a list of countries that include Syria, Sudan, Iran, Iraq are to be fingerprinted upon entry to the USA, even if in transit. Sounds like profiling (racial, religious or otherwise)? If there is a list of nations that we do not trust any of their citizens and are to be fingerprinted or followed, the list should also include Borth Korea. How about Vietnam and China? They are communists there too, aren't they? How about Cuba? Shouldn't we fingerprint cubans too?

>This is to show how dangerous this administration's thinking is. Does anybody remember J. Edgar Hoover? Or Senator McCarthy? Haven't we learned anything?

Alex;

We have in fact learned a great deal. With the aid of technology and the proper attitude we can rid the world of all undesirable elements. What is popular today may not be popular tomorrow. Popularity depends upon politics, economic, and other concerns which the common man or woman has “no need to know”.

In our democracy we elect our leaders and hope we can live through any given administration. Depending upon who holds the Oval Office the wealth, might and attitude of the United States will be expressed as one-man wishes. Too bad our leaders do not have a consistent viewpoint.

Your prediction of war by February seems reasonable. It will take several more months to get all of our materials in place to sustain an attack. It cannot happen overnight.

The reason Iraq is “more dangerous today than five years ago” is one of “perception and interpretation by the present administration”. Remember papa Bush started a war he did not finish. Baby Bush wants revenge because of his claim that there was an attempt by Iraq to kill his father. He also wants to “finish what daddy started”.

As the United States takes over the oil wells in Iraq, you will find the names of new owners, which will include Bush and Chaney. Nothing will be said of this ownership as this is expected and only fair. After all these guys have been working hard and they do know the oil business!
