If so, then I bet the other PC is not Windows 2000 and it has something to do with the different OS's talking to each other. What is the OS of the machine that is the netowrk drive? If it's not Windows 2000, I think you may be out of luck.

Windows NT, I believe. I'm able to rename files from Windows 95 computer. I'll do more experiments today from different computers in the office. It's not a big deal, just a little annoyance...
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
