Tamar;

We had a horrendous roar over removing smoking from restaurants and bars in California. The prophets of doom declared business would evaporate. The smokers were belligerent about removing their “right to smoke” from public places. The laws went into effect a few years ago and it is so refreshing to not have to deal with smoke!

Recently, a study was done about the effects of banning smoking from public places. It was revealed that business had gone up! Perhaps too many non-smokers were offended and did not frequent public places. Whatever the reason for the increase in business we will never know.

Personally, I wish no one would smoke. Did you ever hear the Bob Newhart routine about Sir Walter Raleigh coming to America? It is so funny! Sir Walter Raleigh lands on Americas shores and goes to a pay phone to call King George. He mentions this great leaf that the Native Americans smoke and tries to explain over the phone what that means. That part is hilarious! “You mean, they roll it up, put it in their mouth and set fire to it”? If smokers could see themselves perhaps they would stop smoking.

If a car pollutes we have 800 numbers to call to get it off the road. We should have 800 numbers to get rid of smokers! :)
