Most of us in Canada (me included) have a very strong FEAR of allowing private health services into our now fully public system.

In my case (and others who I've heard speak on the matter) the logic goes that the private system will attract all of the better doctors because of the bigger bucks, leaving the rest of us with the marginally competent lot to serve our needs.

How does a public/private mix really work out, especially in that regard?
