Just off the top (and with very little depth) it seems the easiest way to implement a Windows solution would be to have [at least] a system box for each station. Dumb [touch screen] terminals would work with UNIX/LINUX - but they're still TTY (aren't they?). It would be a neat trick to breakup NT memory, install a Win or CE license in each partition then manage the plumbing for each stations display, keyboard, mouse and printer... but that ain't saying it can't (or isn't being) be done<s>.

For me - the obvious would be a requirement for a windows system at each station.

I have seen systems that seem to run off dumb terminals with just the monitor and a receipt printer at the order point. Are they really terminals? How are they all linked to a common CPU? What would be the easiest way to design something like this. I really need some ideas on the remote monitor situation.
