>>>Take standard American breakfast, cereals and juice. That's 500 kilocalories (aka calories in USA), whereas for a sitting job, or moderately physically involved, the norm is 1800 to 2000. Add the sugar from the coffee, coke, and whatever... which people usually don't count.

>>Why are so many Americans overweight? I think they like donuts too much! There is nothing like grease, enriched processed flour, with sugar heated in a pool of boiling fat to create a tasteful delight such as a donut. Just glaze it with additional sugar to enhance its palatability and appearance. Such a treat!

>Been that, done there... I mean, I tried, and couldn't eat more than one, and that was out of politeness only - wanted to throw it into the nearest waste basket after two swallows. It's so f**n sweet... had to drink a large glass of water to dissolve the sugar from my mouth. How can anybody stand so much sugar in anything?

Dragan;

Canned soup in this country is unbelievable! Typically there is one teaspoon of salt per 8 ounce serving. I cannot eat or drink foods that have a lot of salt as I do not enjoy them. We do get canned soup from Germany and it has little salt.

A fellow worker named Mark was smaller then I am. Mark was 6’ 4” and weighed 220. Each day he would come to work and go to the company cafeteria to buy one donut which they made fresh every morning. The temperature of the oil was not high enough so the donut dough would absorb great amounts of oil.

Mark would place a thick layer of paper napkins on the top and bottom of the donut. He would then place the donut on a table and use all his strength to push down upon the paper-covered donut. The oil would saturate the paper on both the top and bottom of this mess. Mark would then throw away the paper and eat the flattened donut. I asked him why he would even consider buying one of those donuts let alone eat it? He said he liked it!

Another friend named Richard got out of the Marine Corp the same time I got out of the Air Force. Richard was 6’ 3” and weighed 210 and in great shape. He went to work for Hewlett Packard, where they had a donut wagon. You could eat all the donuts you wanted so Richard did. We would go to Richards house and have dinner and then desert, which was always Ice Cream. After desert had been “finished” Richard would say to his wife, “Tommy (me) would like more Ice Cream”! Which of course meant he wanted seconds and thirds, etc. Within one year Richard went to 320 pounds.

Learn how to take care of yourself when you are young and stay with it for life!
