Hi Henry,
Did you ever resolve this issue completely? In the past, I wrote pcAnywhere scripts for the government and I have done both PcAnywhere for Dos 5.0 and PcAnywhere for windows scripts using Windows 95/98. Let me know if you are still having problems with the modem. Some modems do not work well with PcAnywhere for Dos on Windows machines (for example winmodems). Just a general overview: the modem must have a standard IRQ setting in windows that can be used by pcAnywhere for dos and the modem must be configured IN pcAnywhere for Dos also. Older PCI modems that allowed you to set the IRQ on the board worked the best with PCAnywhere for Dos. All of the settings for the modem in PcAnywhere 5.0 must be correct for the modem. If all of that is correct, then if you can manually call the host from within PcAnywhere you can run the script. The host must be setup in PcAnywhere also. Assuming that, then the issues become the correct command line when initiating awremote and allowing awremote to run to completion before returning to your calling app.

One of my client is facing this issue which I need to resolve. That computer also is running Windows 98. In their case, they claim that even the first connection is a failure - i.e., just a flash. On continued attempts, they were able to connect to the agencies computer, only to be booted out again.
