Check thread after message #715535 - it may be a similar problem.

I've had various versions of Windows networks over the years behave in a similar fashion, lose network mappings or drop connections in the middle of long file operations for no good reason. There was always some obscure setting on the server to be changed, about which only a few gurus knew. This may, or may not be one of those. I feel your pain and wish you luck with this.
