I don't completely disagree with your points. However, (you knew there was going to be a "however") to get the get public to use Linux as a desktop OS it has to be easier to use. Like you said Apple - was a no brainer from start. All I'm saying is Linux should have the same tools (if not better ones) that Apple has supplied.
