Strangely, that didn't work. I haven't run a full reinstall of VFP 8 yet, but I'm not sure if that's going to do the trick. By appearance, the icons embedded within the VFP8.exe look like the VFP7 ones - even the executable that's hidden in the install directory.

Edit: About an hour after rebooting, the icons are back to expected appearance. Even though immediately after the reboot they weren't. :/
