Hi Alejandro,
After reading from others, I definitely misspoke--or mistyped. I do advocate updating tables by using local views, which does require a DBC. I use free tables, and always update via views.
It's really hard to know how much to denormalize. After a few years you'll know if the structure you chose was right :-)
