>Question: on a small network (10 users) , assuming a config file that puts tmpfiles and resource files local, is there any reason (besides initial load of app) why you can't have users run the EXE from the server? (I know this also works, just another best practices question)
I do this at Bata-Bolivia. No problem.
On the other hand, a loader program that only checks whether a newer version exists (and then copies it to the local hard disk) would save some network bandwitdh, but only on application startup.
Again on the other hand, it seems to me that having the EXEs on the server requires less maintenance. Specifically, the users can easily go back to any previous version (I keep the last 30 versions of the executable).
