It's been some time since I've visited UT so perhaps your problem has been resolved.

I'm using W2k Pro with the 4.83 SP1 client on a NetWare 5.0 server and it works fine for me. In the login script I used the syntax:

SET STATION_ID=P_STATION

I then used the GETENV() function to retrieve the value of P_STATION and it matched the MAC address as reported by ipconfig.

I'd make sure the client has service packs installed. I've also seen some strange behaviors when logging in with a NetWare username but using the "Administrator" profile in W2k. Best to create a Windows user and profile that matches the NetWare username.
