Hi, Jim.

>>>Dishonest is to push the people to buy new versions of software every six months without real improvements in each one. I think that from 3 to 8 only 3,5 and 8 are realy *new versions*.
>>
>>I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you. For me every new version of VFP, and even the SP3 for VFP 6 have added a lot of improvements.
>>
>This is, of course, a matter of personal opinion, Martin.

Of course it is. That's why I told "I disagree" and "For me". 8-)

>Mine is that (discounting VFP3, since it starts the chain) VFP6 was a dud but SP3 did something to make it worthwhile. I saw a comment when VFP6 was in public hands that said "VFP6 is what VFP3 should have been" and I felt that was right on the mark. As I said, SP3 did add stuff that helped to make VFP6 more valuable.

We agree about VFP 7 and 8, and SP 3 also. But I think VFP 3, with all it's problems, was a fantastic product when it was released. Personally, I can't pretend that every product release be perfect. No single piece of sotware is, after all. Of course, we probably agree that everyone hopes for a better level of quality, but this is a real *complex* product, and the team behind it doesn't have the same resources that other MS products has, so I think the level is quite high.

In the end, what I really *strongly* disagree is not that each release could have being better, but with such a bold statement as "Dishonest is to push the people to buy new versions of software every six months without real improvements in each one". I think we have never being *pushed* at all. And my opinion is somewhat backed by the vast amount of developers that are still using versions older than 7.

Thanks for pointing that and give me the chance to be more specific.

Regards,
