Mine is that (discounting VFP3, since it starts the chain) VFP6 was a dud but SP3 did something to make it worthwhile. I saw a comment when VFP6 was in public hands that said "VFP6 is what VFP3 should have been" and I felt that was right on the mark. As I said, SP3 did add stuff that helped to make VFP6 more valuable.
VFP7 was a much better release for features requested by users. There were not a whole lot of features, but they were very meaningful for developers.
VFP8 takes it to a whole new level! Now we're rockin, and if VFP9 hits the same quantity/quality of user-requested features, we will be achieving nirvana!
