>Interested to know if anyone has opinions on Tablet PC's. What recommendations you have, comparisons, POS functionality. Any issues with VFP.
The great thing about the Tablet PC is that it leverages existing technologies.
- Tablet PC OS is WinXP Pro will some extra handwriting software
- Stylus is transparent to your apps since it just moves the mouse cursor
- for handwriting input into your existing apps, the text is written into a section of the screen, then is pasted into the field. Once again completely transparent to your VFP app.
I have been running VFP7 and apps built on VFP7 on a TabletPC since November. I haven't had to change a single line of code. There are no issues.
I use the Acer TravelMate C100 which is a bit pricey, but it is nice since the screen can be swiveled so that it can be used as a conventional laptop. You can also get pure Tablets which have no keyboards attached.
If the size and weight are not an issue, it is a huge advantage over PocketPCs, since the code doesn't have to be rewritten.
