My experience with Sybase is extremely limited but there is one thing that nailed me which I'll pass on to you - Sybase objects are case sensitive. So I would make sure that the stored proc you call is being referenced with its name in the proper case.

If the case is ok, you might want to use ODBC for your connection and turn on the ODBC tracing to see where things are actually failing with some kind of result message that could help.
