Here's the way things worked until now. I bought VFP3 and upgraded to VFP5, VFP6, VFP7 and probably will to VFP8.

But now I'll continue with your car example.

So I go to the Toyota store and tell them. "For many years I bought your X model. There's going to be a new model released soon but you guys started doing another model. Now according to all the marketing that's been going on for that new model mine seems to be less attractive now."

"I really want to keep buying the new versionof that model that I already use because I know where most of the buttons are but is that really the smart choice to do"

Now to me it looked like the salesperson answer to me was buy all our models you'll be sure to make the right decision.

>What do you think you would be told if you went to the Toyota store and said "I am NOT going to be buying a Toyota, please help me decide what car to drive."? (Well, they would try to talk you into a Toyota, but Ken doesn't key a 4 figure commission for selling a VFP box. If he does, I want that job.)

>>>This is really a question for you to answer and decide yourself. The direct answer to this question is, get MSDN Subscriptions and use the tool(s) for your development needs.
>>
>>Thanks a lot for that very highly clarifying answer. Oh and by the way I'll make sure that I also get all the development tools for linux (that implies learning Java) and also I'll get all the script languages for the web (just in case) like PHP, JavaScript... I'll also get Oracle, MySql... Who knows what I'll need in the future.
>>
>>You can't be serious. This is the worst I was expecting from you. I'd expect an answer like that from someone who does'nt really care about something because he's on his way out of a given place. Is that the case? Where are the answers to the other questions?
>>
>>To me this is a clear sign that VFP is a dead end choice. It really does'nt look good when someone in charge of marketing for a product can't find answers to some basic questions.
>>
>>Perhaps you just gave a VERY CLEAR beginning signal that NOW is the time to leave VFP.
>>
>>Is that really the way you want to end this thread?
