Hi Bernard,
The complexity is caused by the Windows Installer Technology - from which we are gaining benefits in 2K and XP. I think the best answer is to try to understand it a bit more and to that purpose I have just purchased thru Amazon "The Official Installshield for Windows Installer - Developrers Guide" - good sleep inducer - dozed off real easy last night reading it - but I think it is the way to go - Author is Bob Baker.
