If you put yourself in the postion of one of my many clients who do not have permanent IT staff there is a big difference. Microsoft backup works completely differently as an example with its emphasis on media pools.
These sort of people do not know what to diable.
A lot of software which runs on Win2k pro will not run on Win2k server. Good examples are the stand alone versions of almost every anti-virus package you can think of. A lot of backup software will also not run on win2k server.
What my clients want is a simple file server sharing out the data. Win2k server is way over the top for their needs.
Maybe I should invetigate Linux as an alternative to Windows for the file server.
