Hi Len,
Thanks for the response.
When I type something like, "file:///c:/mypdf.pdf", into IE6, the file is opened using Acrobat (as expected) but appears in a new window and not in the browser (as I want).
When I try this on my home pc, the pdf opens in the browser, however, documents created with Word or Excel open in new windows (unlike pdfs).
Do you think that it is a combination of browser and document settings that affects the way a document is rendered in a browser? If so, any idea how to make it work as I want? I've been searching the web and trying other suggestions that seem to be giving the answer, but when I try them, they don't help me. One that seems to pop up a lot has something to do with making sure that the option for something like "open in browser" is checked on. I investigated my setting and it is.
Anymore ideas?
TIA
Mike

>I had an idea that the problem is related to how your browser is currently set up. Note, if I am right, this will also be a problem for your users. I don't think you can programatically change the settings easily, but saying that, I have't used the ActiveX control in that way.
