The basis of the U.N. and of "diplomacy" generally is listening and accommodation - to develop a "win-win" in the parlance of today.

You feel BIG enough as a country that you can take care of anything you want/need all by yourselves. And, frankly, I have no doubt that you can for a while yet. But this could well result in the implementation of TracyH's "Solution" from the outside, by embargoing and ignoring and otherwise learning to live without the U.S.'s money.
